Eight years ago, on a whim, I decided I wanted to make my very own birthday cake. And being the “yes is more” person that I am, this was no banana-bread project. There were tiers, there was fondant, there were modeled figurines—all to be tackled by someone with the utmost conviction and virtually no experience whatsoever! Sounds like a recipe for disaster (pun FULLY intended). But with a lot of work, learning, and even more failed experiments, it worked! I actually had a cake and, quite frankly, I couldn’t believe it. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be a creative journey worth embarking on, or a mess of bowls and pans in the sink, but boy, am I glad I decided to do it anyway!
That very first cake sparked a love for cake and cookie design I just haven’t been able to shake. Throughout the years, and hundreds and hundreds of baked goods, I’ve learned just about all the tips and tricks to perfecting my craft, and my recipes. On any given weekend, you can find me busy in the kitchen, next to my red KitchenAid, creating new and exciting flavors to try. Whether it’s light and airy whipped peach buttercream, or bold and summery pink lemonade cookies, I believe that dessert not only has to look good, it has to taste even better!
Tastefully Human was born out of a little business, that turned into a little bit bigger business, that turned into a ‘yeah, we’re gonna need to make this an actual business’ business. Everyone of us is unique, and that means that every wedding, birthday, baby shower, even retirement tea party is too! I love doing what I do because I get to help you make sure your desserts are as personal as your celebration, with one-of-a-kind, show-stopping treats. Thank you for joining me along the way!
